In a busy high street area in Dalston, Hackney, the brief was to create an interior design project for a bar. Bourne Architects has redeveloped a bar, adding an extension of the bar area and full refurbishment of the property. Kingsland road Bar is a project that was a design and build project which architects (Bourne Architects) and contractors (Bourne Management and Building) developed together.
This milieu required a softened approach that attached the client’s desire for an elaborate contemporary design with the restrictions of local planning specifications. The sequence of space begins at a discreet shopfront of the bar area, leading to a narrow shop space. The aim was to create an experience for the customers going into a great high street bar where the customer is surrounded by a vibrant atmosphere surrounded by a vast selection of wines, spirits and beers.
For a more personalized result, all the internal furniture, from the carpentry, the palette is kept simple with the oak light wood floors and bespoke bar furniture, bartending area, to the smallest decoration details. The intention was to create an environment with a lot of personalities, uniting the vintage and the modern qualities with a composition of colours that resulted in a cosy and elegant atmosphere.
